The music of the 50's is still available to listen to today.
If you are an XM Satellite Radio subscriber, they have a channel dedicated to the music of the 50's. It's great! Check out their programming schedule online here.
Or if you have DirecTV, you can listen to it on channel 802.

One of these days, Alice... BANG!.. ZOOM!..

"Many of the television shows of the 50's went on to become classics, and their characters helped shaped the language, entertainment industry and culture of today.
Check out the 'Howdy Doody Time' link on the left. It's a hoot!

The internet is a great way to recall some of the memories of your favorite TV shows or even some of the toys you had as a kid. If I had more money than sense, I could go to eBay and buy back every toy and comic book I ever had as a kid. Maybe I'd have taken better care of them if I knew they would be worth a fortune today.

Although it is certainly NOT required, we encourage everybody to dress up for this event. We really appreciate those people who make an extra effort to help our Fabulous 50's Sock Hop look like a 'Blast from the Past'. Check out the links on the left and you just might find that special outfit. Or use your imagination and come up with a style all your own.

Toroda Creek is one company that still sells things like poodle skirts, bobby socks and bowling shirts to help you look "RETRO". Muffy's even carries saddle shoes with real leather soles that are great for dancing!

Wouldn't you just love to own a restored Jukebox like this one?
This one is priced around $14,000.00. There are more listed here.

One of the reasons we love the 50's is for all the great and not so great Science Fiction movies that were made back then. The posters usually showed an alien or robot carrying off some poor, scantily clad earth woman. Click Here to visit a cool 50's Sci-Fi movie website.

If you were lucky enough to have your own car (or a friend who did) you could take your 'steady' to see all these movies at the Drive-In theater. Drive-Ins were a great way to watch (or not watch) a movie. The scarier the better, because it kept your date clinging to you all night long.
Today you can even buy this collection of 'B' movies below on DVD.
Why not pop one in the portable DVD player out in the car in the garage with your sweetie by your side and see what happens.

I suppose that one downside of the 50's was the constant fear of the 'Red Hoard'. The Commies were always ready to strike us at any time with the dreaded 'A' Bomb.

But Americans were prepared, just in case, and built bomb shelters at home, practiced "Duck and Cover" and learned how to survive an atomic attack. Click here for a refresher course. The photo above is of the Atomic Bomb test nicknamed "Climax" on June 4th, 1953. I love that name!

Those A-Bombs with their nifty radiation were great fodder for Hollywood. If it wasn't for them we would have no "Amazing Colossal Man" or giant ants in "Them".

And c'mon!.. who wouldn't want to be able to glow in the dark like Mickey Rooney in "The Atomic Kid"
